Nature Conservation

Mother nature is a powerful force,
one that acts without remorse
In the absence of prophets bushes burn
the volcano’s erupt and the winds turn

The colours of the rainbow in the flowers in the field
All now gone to a single shade,
All grown in a manner to maximise yield
All planted with the plough and spade,

The squirrels have changed from bright red to grey
Trees trained into artistic shapes
Gardens show more diversity than the wilderness
And the reservoirs are large artificial lakes

Wildlife only occurs in the absence of man
For it grows only where we say it can,
Habitats used to change with the seasons and tides,
Now it changes as and when we decide.
