Wrapped around her finger, (Like my ring will never be)

I don’t remember when I met her
I just know I was impressed
her appearance was a sight to see
And she was fashionably dressed.

The moment I first saw her
I’d do anything she’d ask
it didn’t matter of the cost
or how onerous the task

I am still wrapped around her finger
When I close my eyes she is all I see,
Wrapped around her finger
Like my ring will never be,

She called me up this morning
desperate for a ride
It was so far out of my way
But I took it in my stride

She didn’t think of the petrol
Or if I had other plans,
Her partner wouldn’t give it the time of day
It would be different if I were her man,

I am still wrapped around her finger
When I close my eyes she is all I see,
Wrapped around her finger
Like my ring will never be,

Next week is her birthday
I know just what she would like
But she doesn’t realise
Just how highly it is priced

Her boyfriend won’t remember
Or pay it any mind
February 14th doesn’t change year to year
She attributes to him my card for valentines,

I am still wrapped around her finger
When I close my eyes she is all I see,
Wrapped around her finger
Like my ring will never be,

There was a new girl at the office,
As fashionable as she was late
Her appearance would more than suffice
What I would have given for a date

But she is not you,
Prettier perhaps and true
but my mind is already taken,
Even if my hope is through.
