Each person’s turn

Life is fragile and easily taken away
Too often too soon and for those I pray
When will we learn
Each person’s turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

Why must we hasten this short time
With weapons and wars and crime
When will we learn
Each persons turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

Some don’t last even to birth
Even those lives can have a great worth
When will we learn
Each persons turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

A child full of potential picked on in school
Tied a rope into a noose now is hanging in the hall
When will we learn
Each person’s turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

While serving overseas got caught in a fight
Suddenly it hit him he was in the snipers sight
When will we learn
Each person’s turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

Driving to work like any other day,
Hit by a truck on the motorway
When will we learn
Each person’s turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

He was called in by the doctor met by a long face,
Realised soon he would be in his resting place,
When will we learn
Each person’s turn
Comes too quickly in the end.

Even relatives who lived past eighty years,
To the youngest known only by photographs tales and tears
When will we learn
Each persons turn
Comes too quickly in the end.
